Where have you guys been?
May 24, 2007Sir Uhm-a-lot: Aren't you lucky you're not yet in school? Already I wanna go home. I hate long breaks. I keep on thinking about endless insecurities and stuff. Oh no, not again.
Miss Snotty: Oh yes, not again. I'm actually looking forward to school for only one reason: I miss this Japanese restaurant. I miss their ramen.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Which one?
Miss Snotty: Sushi-ya yay! Their gomoku ramen is the love. The Love.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: The love. I may love food, but I count you as part of the luckier side of the world. We don't have a decent Japanese restaurant, and you're happier than I am. Boo hoo, I guess.
Miss Snotty: Don't you have some stupid mall there over at DLSU?
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Nothing Japanese there. But we do have a Japanese restaurant in the condominium nearby - just that, well, it sucks. I was there once in my first year and I never came back. Even worse the Chowking branch here disappeared, to be replaced by some steakhouse I couldn't even afford.
Miss Snotty: Chowking is also cool. I was on a date last night and we went to this Chinese restaurant thingy I don't even remember what, and they have big-ass servings of congee and noodle soup. I didn't even finish half of it! But the best part of the experience is, well, I love their water. I love their water so much!
Sir Uhm-a-lot: At least it doesn't have this metallic aftertaste. It can ruin a wedding. But wait a minute - a date?
Miss Snotty: Yes, a date! With this guy I'm in love with, and apparently, is in love with me too. Isn't it cool? Love is overrated nowadays but it's cool while it's there.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: And it isn't cool when it's gone. But - oh well. Inexperienced Uhmmy here won't argue as to why a date could happen in a Chinese restaurant. Besides, it isn't fastfood, the congee bowl's huge, and the water's fine. I guess.
Miss Snotty: A date could happen anywhere, my dear. It could happen in a stupid bench. Or some stupid swing. Or over a cup of either cheap or overpriced imported coffee. So long as you like the person you're with and you're spending time with him or her, you have a date.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Maybe I'm just stuck in the most conservative of mindsets to think otherwise. Or, my insecurities. Oh my golly. Then again, there's this one I like, and only once did I crazily think of asking her out. I haven't seen her yet since school started, though. Darn it.
Miss Snotty: Well, you'll get around to seeing her eventually. It's a small world after all. And clichés are not really that evil once you come to think of it.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Clichés, because?
Miss Snotty: Because clichés are so oft-repeated that they become some sort of truth. It may be that the cliché was created because there was a truth to share, or a cliché became a cliché simply by virtue of it, even if it never was true in the first place. Rambling ends here.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Overportrayal comes to mind. I guess we're all to blame for magnifying what doesn't prove to be true all the time. The male geek that never gets the girl because there's always the attractive school athlete. We never have a shortage here. A classmate of mine won medals and appears in magazines. On crappy television teen soaps, even, which pushes the point. I did give up on television - and on my chances. But I'd rather not pity myself. Things do fail, right?
Miss Snotty: Things always fail. But sometimes expectations are too high. And so yeah, overportrayal comes into play.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: So I guess I do have a chance, after all.
Miss Snotty: It's all just a state of mind. Natatae na naman ako. Too much chocolates.
Sir Uhm-a-lot: Toilet tiiime.
